First Nations

We have searched for some time, to find the right person from the First Nation, to designs authentic drawings to make into a stencil. We did not want to copy another artist drawing and call it our own. We wanted the real thing, authentic First Nation Art. The First Nation Art is full of history each line has a meaning and each image has a story to tell. Not only beautifully but educational.

Our artist is a member of the Sumas First Nation, his name is SKE-MOOKW and his English name is (Henry) Lester Ned Jr.. Henry graduated in 1987 from Abbotsford Senior Secondary. He started carving Totem Poles, Masks, Bowls, Plaques and Painting in 1991. His creation of art is Northwest Coast Salish. His teachings have been self taught. In addition to carving and painting, He teaches art classes which consists of drawing, carving and tool making to Primary and Secondary Native Students in Abbotsford schools. He enjoys teaching the Students about their culture, history and art.
